What is a early Pregnancy Tests appointment?

The two week wait between ovulation and finding out if you are pregnant or not can feel like a lifetime, but you can find out if you are pregnant sooner with an early pregnancy test. Our accurate Beta HCG test is designed to detect pregnancies sooner than other tests and is available, with a confidential result, at our clinics in Manchester, Liverpool, and Newton-le-Willows. Early pregnancy tests from Pall Mall Medical can detect pregnancy as early as 7-11 days after conception. Home pregnancy tests rarely show an accurate reading this early and you will usually have to wait to test until the day or the day after your period is due. So if you’d like to find out if you are pregnant as soon as you can, simply book a test today and you'll get the result you need quickly. Early pregnancy tests work by detecting the pregnancy hormone Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) which can be found in the blood soon after implantation occurs. The test involves taking a sample of blood which will be tested in our laboratory for the hormone. This usually takes less than 24 hours and once the results are available, we will get in touch with you to let you know.

How early in the pregnancy can I have the test?

Early pregnancy tests can detect pregnancy as early as 7 – 11 days after conception.

What happens during the pregnancy test

The test involves taking a sample of blood from a vein in your arm which will be tested for the pregnancy hormone, HCG.

How soon can I get the results of the pregnancy test?

The laboratory usually tests the sample within 24 hours. Once the results are available, we will contact you immediately.

Can I bring someone with me to the pregnancy test e.g. partner, friend, family member?
Yes of course. Feel free to bring someone to your appointment with you.
Does an early pregnancy test hurt?

You may feel a slight pricking or scratching sensation for a few seconds as the needle is inserted into the vein of your arm, but this isn’t too painful and is over very quickly.

Can the early pregnancy test hurt or affect the development of the baby?

No, taking blood has no effect on the baby. It’s likely that you will undergo blood tests throughout your pregnancy to keep you and your baby as safe as possible.
