Dr Kathryn Ashton

Dr Kathryn Ashton is an Associate Specialist in Dermatology with 22 years NHS experience, working at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Trust.

I addition, she is a fully qualified General Practitioner and prior to specialising,  she combined dermatology clinics with a 26 year GP partnership.

She believes that her generalist background has equipped her with a combination of clinical skills that provide a holistic approach in her consultations, treating skin conditions in the context of her patients’ lives and accepting their wide variation.

She holds diploma qualifications in Dermatology, Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology and prides herself on understanding children’s health , the hormonal aspects of skin disease and its profound effect on mental health.

In addition, she is a qualified Medical Educator holding two Fellowships in both Higher Education and Medical Education and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester where she has taught dermatology for the past 10 years to medical students.

She also teaches G.P’s, G.P.’s in training and dermatology trainees .

Her interests range from eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, mole checks, skin cancer and female genital dermatology.

She will also check “lumps and bumps” and reassure or advise.

Dr Ashton will put you at your ease, carry out a thorough history and examination  and spend time discussing your skin problem and its management .

She is open to any questions you may have, believing that there is no such thing as a silly question.
