Dr Ashish Sukthankar

Dr Sukthankar is the Consultant of GUM & Sexual Health at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
He qualified from the University of Bombay in India and trained in Dermatology (Mumbai) and Genitourinary Medicine (Birmingham). He has been a Consultant since 1999 and has over 30 years' experience in the specialty. He has many year' experience in managing complex problems related to the genitals such as recurrent herpes, recalcitrant warts, Lichen sclerosus, Vulvodynia, Erectile dysfunction. He has wide experience in the fields of HIV and Sexually transmitted infections and is one of the authors of the UK Syphilis Guidelines.

He is a keen teacher and has been an examiner of the Diploma in Genitourinary Medicine examination of the Society of Apothecaries. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Manchester and the North West Health Education England Deanery.

He is one of the Associate Medical Directors at the Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and also serves as the Medical panel members at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service.
