If you’re concerned about your moles or skin lesions, you can book an appointment with one of our specialist Dermatologists. Your assessment will take up to 30 minutes, for a full examination on any moles or skin lesions. There’s no need for a referral from your doctor, so you can book a consultation at a time to suit you. We’ve all got moles. The average person has a total of 30-40 on their face and body. In the majority of cases moles are nothing to worry about. The time to have a mole checked out is when you notice a change in its appearance, as this may indicate melanoma or other skin cancers. Especially if it changes shape, size or colour, starts itching, crusting, ulcerating or bleeding. If the appearance of your moles makes you feel unhappy about your appearance, you can have a consultation with one of our dermatologists to remove it. Whatever the removal procedure, a sample is sent to a laboratory for histopathology testing. It is a process that will test the sample for signs of disease. Most moles are a brown spot, but they can be tan, black or other colours. They are usually oval or round and less than 6 millimetres (1/4 inch). They can appear anywhere on your body, on your scalp, ears, eyes, lips, under your armpits, the palms of the hands and even on the soles of your feet.
