What is breast implant removal?
Removal or an ‘explant’ of breast implants can help women who no longer want to keep their implants. There are various reasons that women consider removing their implants - some may be experiencing symptoms of ‘breast implant illness’, while others might want to have them removed for aesthetic reasons. We have a team of expert consultant breast surgeons who can provide breast implant removal at our private hospital. If you have any concerns about your implants you can discuss them during a free consultation with one of our surgeons.
If you are looking for breast implant replacement surgery, our surgeons can perform a re-augmentation procedure, which involves replacing your old implants with new ones. We see lots of women who want to replace their old textured implants with a smooth or light-weight implant. This can be the ideal option if your implants have reached the point when they need replacing or you wish to update the appearance of your breasts with a change in size, shape or position.

I had my implants in for over 20 years and needed them out as I wasn’t happy with the shape of them anymore. I thought about this for a few years and decided to go with Pall Mall. From the minute I walked into the hospital I was made to feel comfortable and welcome. Lovely hospital and staff. Thank you Pall Mall.

What happens during
breast implant removal?
From your first call or email, we’re here to look after you. Whether you're still researching about having your implants removed and would like more information, or you're ready to meet a surgeon, our team of patient co-ordinator's are here to help.
The consultation will take between 20-45 minutes, during which, please feel free to ask your surgeon as many questions as you would like, whether this is about the risks involved, the recovery process or the surgery itself.
It's important to us that everyone undergoing surgery is healthy and therefore we can reduce risk. Therefore prior to the surgery, a nurse will examine you to make sure you are medically fit enough for surgery. This includes checking all patients for MRSA as well as some blood/urine tests.
Please feel free to make use of the nurse and ask questions about the surgery or even what to bring with you and how to prepare. We want to make sure you feel as comfortable as possible.
On the day of your surgery you will be taken to our own industry-leading private hospital in Newton-le-Willows. Once you're settled into our spacious rooms with en-suites the surgeon will check in to make sure you're fit and prepared for the surgery. The procedure is done under general anaesthetic and lasts between 60-90 minutes.
During the surgery, the surgeon will make a discreet incision under your old scar, however there a number of methods you can choose which will be discussed with you in advance.
Don't worry after the surgery you will not be forgotten! You will be prescribed painkillers to aid recovery by reducing the pain and swelling you may naturally feel after the surgery.
Make sure you take care of yourself after the surgery and we'd recommend taking a week of work. Here at Pall Mall, we have an industry-best aftercare programme which gives you comprehensive cover after your surgery.
Feel free to come into the clinic as often as you like and we will provide you with 24/7 access to our Nurse. Additionally, our surgeons and nurses will keep in touch to ensure you are happy with the outcome of the Impact Removal.
