What is Vaser Liposuction?

The term Vaser stands for ‘Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance’. In simple terms, Vaser Liposuction surgery is a less invasive procedure when compared to traditional lipo but is still an effective liposuction technique for the removal of fat from the body.

This type of liposuction forgoes the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction and replaces it with ultrasound waves. These waves break down the body's fatty tissue without harming any connective tissue, such as blood vessels, collagen and nerves.

Our experienced surgeons use the ultrasound technology to melt, and essentially liquefy, any fatty deposits. Through a gentle suction process, the fat is then removed through a thin cannula tube. Usually, the cannula is small enough to prevent excessive bruising as well as removing the need for stitches.

Vaser Liposuction and Traditional Liposuction - What's the difference?

Although both forms of liposuction use a cannula to remove the fat tissue, the surgical procedures differ in their approaches. For example, in a traditional liposuction procedure, it is the movement of the cannula that removes the stubborn pockets of fat.

However, ultrasonic energy is used to liquefy the fat before it is extracted from the body with the cannula. This modern method is a far safer less invasive body contouring procedure as it reduces the damage to nearby tissues. In turn, this reduces the potential risk of complications and results in faster recovery time so you can get to feeling like your best self sooner rather than later.

What gives the best results?

Most people tend to opt for traditional liposuction to remove any fat deposits around the body in order to achieve their ideal body shape. Although Vaser Lipo does a similar thing, it is an advanced body contouring procedure that also tightens any loose skin. Therefore, patients tend to see even better results from Vaser Liposuction than they would with traditional liposuction!

Plus, the spot targeting of the fat cells allows other healthy tissue to be avoided from the ultrasound energy. Due to this, the recovery time is typically shorter than traditional liposuction, with some patients only requiring a couple hours of downtime before heading home the very same day.

Vaser Liposuction is the best option for those who live a fit and healthy lifestyle but want to remove stubborn areas of fat, whereas traditional liposuction is commonly offered in combination with Tummy Tuck surgery to remove fat and excess skin on a larger scale.

What are the benefits of Vaser Liposuction?

There are multiple advantages to opting for Vaser Liposuction, especially when you see the before and after results. However, it is important to note that Vaser Lipo is not a weight loss solution.

If you do decide to undertake this fat removal surgery, it should be used in combination with healthy daily activities, such as a regular exercise routine and a balanced diet.

Some of the benefits of this type of liposuction are:

Effective in stubborn areas

We all have those places in particular that cause us some body shame, such as the appearance of cellulite, belly fat or a double chin. Vaser Lipo is an effective way to remove fat pockets in troublesome areas.

Not an invasive surgery

As Vaser Liposuction does not use forceful suction in the fat removal process, the surgery is far less invasive than traditional methods. This means the potential risks involved - such as blood loss or damage to other body tissues - are small.

Faster recovery time

Due to the less invasive fat removal procedure, the healing process for Vaser Lipo results in minimal downtime. Of course, recovery time varies person to person, but typically the recovery period is traditionally around 2-3 weeks.

Minimal side effects

As with any cosmetic surgery, there is the potential for side effects. However, with Vaser Liposuction, the side effects are extremely minimal, especially when compared to traditional liposuction procedures.

High-quality targeting

One of the main benefits of Vaser Liposuction is the fact you can target a higher amount of fatty tissue within a single procedure. This way of working avoids essential tissues, like nerves and blood vessels, which aids the recovery process. Plus, you can target multiple areas of the body in one session of Vaser Liposuction.

Stimulates collagen production

The ultrasonic energy used in Vaser Liposuction can tighten your skin consistency and stimulate collagen production. These by-products of the procedure can further enhance a contoured appearance.

Minimal pain

Due to the ultrasonic energy and thin cannula used to remove the fat cells, Vaser Lipo is a fast, low-pain solution to any body issues you may be struggling with.

No general anaesthetic needed

Vaser Liposuction requires no general anaesthetic to perform the procedure. However, you will likely be placed into a 'conscious sedation' with a local anaesthetic solution to reduce any potential pain you may feel.

Day case procedure

Usually, Vaser Liposuction surgery does not require an overnight hospital stay as your healing rate is thought to be much faster than other procedures. This is due to the less invasive methods involved with this surgery.

Reduced scarring

Due to the cannula's reduced size, the scarring involved with this type of procedure is extremely minimal, especially when compared to traditional surgeries, such as a tummy tuck.

Vaser Liposuction Treatment Areas

Pall Mall | Liposuction Newton-le-Willows

What areas of the body can be treated with Vaser Liposuction?

As we all know, fat can deposit across the entire body. Fortunately, there are numerous areas of the body that can be treated with Vaser Liposuction to remove the fat and leave you with the body image you dream of.

Some of the areas that can be targeted with Vaser Lipo include:

  • Chin and neck
  • Arms - commonly known as 'bingo wings'
  • Male chest
  • Tummy - including the torso and abdomen
  • Hips - also known as 'love handles'
  • Back
  • Buttocks
  • Outer or inner thighs
  • Knees
  • Calves
  • Ankles

If you have been considering some other types of procedures to achieve your ideal body type - such as a tummy tuck, arm lift surgery or male chest reduction - Vaser Liposuction may be a better solution.
