What to expect from your Blepharoplasty Surgery at Pall Mall

We pride ourselves on offering a patient-first approach to all of our services at Pall Mall. It does not matter if it is your initial consultation, your surgery, or a couple of years after your procedure - your well-being is our top priority.

By offering exceptional private cosmetic services, we can make sure you aren't on a long waiting list and have the chance to meet with our specialist consultants promptly.

We want to ensure you have all the information you need to feel confident in your surgical decision. So, whether you're looking for more information about Blepharoplasty or are ready to meet one of our surgeons, our expert team is here to help.

Your free consultation

At the consultation, your surgeon will ask you about your desired outcome, giving you a better idea of exactly what you want. You will also discuss the surgery itself and any risk that may be involved.

The surgeon will ask you about your medical history and examine your face to see if Blepharoplasty would be the right treatment plan for you. If it isn't, don't worry!

Our surgeons will likely recommend other cosmetic surgeries that may help you achieve your desired look. We commonly see patients combine Blepharoplasty with face and/ or neck lifts to achieve a more effective result.

We urge you to ask questions during your appointment so you can leave feeling confident and happy about your decision.

Pre-operation

When it is close to your surgery date, we will ask you to come for a pre-op appointment at one of our clinics across the North West. During your appointment, one of our dedicated nurses will perform a series of health checks, usually:

  • Urine test
  • MRSA
  • Blood test

We understand that these tests may seem scary, but they are to give you peace of mind that there will be no complications further down the line and ensure you are fit and healthy enough for surgery.

Again, if you have any questions or queries our incredible team will be more than happy to help.

Surgery

Your male chest reduction surgery will take place at our private hospital in Newton-le-Willows, where you will be greeted by our staff.

You will be shown to your room and our state-of-the-art facilities guarantee you get the highest level of care and service. You will need a quick check-up, and then will be taken to the theatre for your surgery. When you wake up, your eyes will appear more youthful.

Our friendly ward nurses will regularly check on you to ensure you are feeling okay throughout your time in our hospital.

Post-Surgery

After your Blepharoplasty procedure, our nurses will guide you through a comprehensive recovery plan. While each individual's healing process varies slightly, it's essential to follow post-operative instructions given by the nurses diligently.

Swelling and bruising are common initially but will subside after a few weeks. We'll provide you with specific guidelines for proper wound care, pain management, and activities to avoid during the recovery period.

Our patient experience team will be in touch post surgery to book in your post-op appointments with the nurse and surgeon to ensure you are healing correctly and are enjoying the results of your Blepharoplasty.

Aftercare

Your wellbeing is our number-one priority - that is why we offer two years of aftercare so that we can be with you at every stage of your recovery.

Our support line is available 24/7. If you have any issues, please don't hesitate to contact our team.

What is blepharoplasty surgery?

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the eyelids. It involves the removal of excess skin, muscle, and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids.

Blepharoplasty can address various concerns, such as droopy or sagging eyelids, under-eye bags, puffiness, and wrinkles around the eyes.

During the procedure, incisions are typically made along the natural creases of the eyelids to minimise visible scarring. The surgeon then removes excess skin to create a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

Watch our Patient Coordinator Sarah explain Blepharoplasty surgery further.

Your eyes are often the first thing people notice about you, and they play a crucial role in conveying your emotions. Unfortunately, the delicate skin around the eyes is susceptible to the signs of ageing, resulting in:

  • Sagging Skin
  • Puffiness
  • Obstructed Vision

Tanya, Pall Mall Cosmetics Patient

Why consider Blepharoplasty surgery?

Blepharoplasty addresses these concerns by removing excess skin, reducing fat deposits, and tightening muscles around the eyes - creating a more youthful appearance.

As we age, our skin naturally loses its elasticity, causing it to stretch and droop. This natural process, combined with factors such as genetics, sun exposure, and lifestyle choices, can lead to various issues.

There are typically a number of common experiences which lead patients to seek eyelid surgery, such as:

  • Baggy Eyelids - Excess skin and fat accumulation in the upper and lower eyelids, creating a tired or aged appearance.
  • Puffy Under-Eye Bags - Swelling and fatty deposits beneath the eyes that give a perpetually tired or haggard look.
  • Impaired Vision - Heavy upper eyelids that obstruct vision, affecting daily activities and reducing quality of life.

Our treatment options for eyelid surgery

Here at Pall Mall, we understand that no two surgeries are the same, which is why we offer various types of eyelid surgery. So no matter your concerns, you can find the right treatment plan for you.

The surgeon will tailor the surgical approach to meet the specific needs of the patient and achieve a balanced and harmonious outcome.

We offer Blepharoplasty surgery with options for both local and general anaesthetic. We understand that surgery can be a scary experience and by offering both options, you can choose the type of surgery that is right for you. So you can feel as calm and comfortable as possible.

Upper eyelid

Upper eyelid surgery focuses on addressing issues such as drooping eyelids, excess skin, or puffiness in the upper eyelid area. Your surgeon will make an incision along the natural crease of the upper eyelid to remove excess skin, fat, and muscle.

Lower eyelid

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty targets concerns such as under-eye bags, sagging skin, and puffiness in the lower eyelid area. The surgeon makes an incision just below the lower lash line to remove or reposition excess fat, skin, and muscle.

Upper and lower eyelid

Some individuals may require both upper and lower eyelid surgery to achieve the desired results. Upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty can be performed in combination to address multiple concerns simultaneously.

The benefits of Blepharoplasty Surgery

Patients who undergo eyelid surgery find they reap incredible benefits. These can include:

Youthful appearance

By eliminating sagging skin and reducing puffiness, Blepharoplasty restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the eyes, creating a brighter and revitalised overall appearance.

Enhanced confidence

Aesthetic improvements often translate into increased self-confidence, empowering you to face the world with a renewed sense of pride and self-assurance.

Improved vision

The removal of excess skin and fat can alleviate obstructions and significantly enhance your field of vision, positively impacting your daily life and activities.

Decreased fatigue

Once the excess skin is removed around your eyelids, patients feel a weight lifted and they can open their eyes wider. With their eyes feeling less heavy, it helps decrease feelings of tiredness and fatigue.

Jasmine Smith, Breast Enlargement Patient

What causes the appearance of excess skin and saggy skin around the eyelids?

The appearance of excess and saggy skin around the eyelids, frustratingly for some, can't always be avoided. However, our Blepharoplasty surgery provides the solution to reverse these damages. The main causes include:

Ageing

As we age, the skin naturally loses its elasticity and becomes less firm. This can lead to the development of excess skin and sagging around the eyelids.

Genetics

Some individuals are genetically predisposed to have looser skin or weaker connective tissues around the eyelids, which can contribute to the appearance of sagging around the eyes.

Sun damage

Prolonged and unprotected exposure to the sun's harmful UV rays can accelerate the breakdown of collagen in the skin. This can result in premature ageing and the development of saggy skin around the eyelids.

Lifestyle factors

Certain lifestyle habits, such as smoking and poor nutrition, can negatively impact skin health and contribute to the loss of elasticity and the formation of sagging skin on your face.

Fat deposits

Over time, fat can accumulate in the eyelid area, causing puffiness and contributing to a heavier, sagging appearance. If weight is lost, this can also result in loose skin around the eyes.

Would I be better off getting a face lift?

For those seeking comprehensive facial rejuvenation, combining Blepharoplasty with a facelift or neck surgery can produce truly remarkable results. This powerful duo addresses:

  • Multiple signs of ageing
  • Targetes not only the eyes but also sagging skin
  • Deep creases
  • Facial muscle laxity

The combination provides a harmonious and balanced transformation, allowing you to achieve a more youthful and cohesive overall appearance. During your free consultation, you can discuss with your surgeon the best surgical approach to achieve your desired look.
