Leading Gynaecologist Sheds Light on Often Hidden Struggle: One in Five Women Never Experience Orgasm
A leading gynaecologist with over 31 years of experience is bolding stating that one in five women never experience an orgasm in their lifetime.
Having treated an estimated 50,000 patients over the course of his esteemed career, Mr Sachin Maiti from Pall Mall Medical brings a wealth of observational data to his jaw-dropping claim.
“Stress, anxiety, past trauma, and even societal expectations can create a mental environment that inhibits the ability to fully let go and enjoy intimate moments,” Mr Maiti explained.
“Mental and emotional blockages can have a profound impact on a woman's sexual experiences,” he added.
Mr Maiti’s extensive interactions with women from all backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles have granted him the unique insight and understanding to address an issue that often remains taboo.
Through compassionate medicinal and holistic approaches, and gained patients' trust, women open about their intimate struggles, including the subject of sexual satisfaction.
Shedding light on the multiple reasons underlying the 20% statistic, Mr Maiti emphasises they are consequences of psychological and physical barriers, as well as life’s numerous complexities, which all contribute to a woman's inability to achieve orgasm.
Physically, Mr Maiti provides insights into various conditions that can affect a woman's difficulty climaxing.
One such condition is anorgasmia, a term used to describe the consistent inability to reach orgasm despite adequate sexual stimulation.
“This condition can be rooted in hormonal imbalances, neurological disorders, or certain medications that interfere with sexual response,” he explained.
“In some cases, childbirth related trauma- both mental and physical, medical procedures such as hysterectomy or pelvic surgery can lead to altered sensations, impacting a woman's ability to achieve orgasm too.”
Raising awareness about these issues, Mr Maiti hopes he can help women overcome the isolation they often feel when facing challenges related to sexual satisfaction and urges them to talk openly.
“By creating a dialogue that bridges the gap between medical science and individual experiences, we can alleviate the stigma associated with sexual health concerns,” he added.
The gynaecologist emphasises that seeking professional help is crucial for women who are struggling with sexual satisfaction.
“I would encourage open communication with healthcare providers who specialise in sexual health, as they can offer tailored guidance and interventions to address the specific concerns each woman faces,” he said.
“From counselling to medical treatments, a range of options are available to help women achieve a fulfilling sexual life and a better sexual relationship with a much greater impact on life experiences,” he added. The value in life is much more than ‘sum of its parts’.
Many women will struggle at some stage of their lives achieving an orgasm, here are 10 potential factors that could contribute to difficulty in experiencing orgasm for some women:
